Usually ships in 6 to 9 days | | | Rare Rooster Indeed! | | This CD is a collection of unreleased and alternate takes from Atomic Rooster guitarist/vocalist John Du Cann`s personal archives. They emanate mostly from 1980-81, at a time when the Rooster had just re-formed and issued their self-titled album from 1980. Also included on the CD are hilarious US radio adverts from 1971, circa the IN HEARING OF... period. And for ELP/Asia fans, two tracks feature Carl Palmer on drums. If you`re like me and do not have a copy of ATOMIC ROOSTER (1980), you will find this album enormously satisfying as a replacement/alternative. Some tracks are alternate takes of songs that only appeared as singles after the 1980 album was finished (`Play it Again`; `End of the Day`). There is also a note warning the consumer that the `sound may vary due to different studios/years`. I think the album sounds fine overall, just a bit harsh in places, and the Carl Palmer-vintage tracks are in mono. | | | | Atomic Rooster - `Rarities` (Angel Air) | | Very well assembled collection of unreleased tunes that`s been pulled from Rooster guitarist/vocalist`s John DuCann`s private stash. Can`t complain. It`s a pretty decent nineteen track disc that surely holds my complete interest,to say the least.Best songs are the rocking "Death Walks Behind You",the alternative mix of "Throw Your Life Away","Devil`s Answer",the demo of "Don`t Lose Your Mind","Forward Revealed",the in-your-teeth "End Of The Day",and one of my personal Rooster favorites "I Can`t Take No More".Also liked the radio friendly "No Changes By Me".There are a couple of U.S. radio ads mixed in.Very cool! Why don`t more artists tag radio ads on their later day compilation CD`s?Vince Crane`s killer keyboard work is nearly worth the admission price alone.`Rarities` is a good effort of top grade UK heavy progressive rock. | | | -- zzzz |
