| How can this CD be so under-rated? |
| Double Trouble may not be the most well known of the Skynyrd catolog, or even the best, but it is still the best insight into Ronnie Van Zants soul. The lyrics on songs like "Was I right or wrong?", "Comin` Home" and "Am I losin`" are some of the most soulful lyrics ever sung by a rock crooner. Altough mildly morbid(because of his father being alive), "Was I right or wrong?" is one of the most hauntingly true songs you`ll ever listen to. No matter who you are, when you hear the line about going home to show his father how well he did, only to find a tombstone, will send chills up your spine. Its a bueatifully done song and is well worth the price of the album. |

| A Mix of well known and obscure Skynyrd gems.. |
Hey, if you`re a fan of Skynyrd then this collection should put a smile on your face as it has a nice mix of rockers and ballads. "Double Trouble" is a sweet collection for someone who has the "Essential Skynyrd" and wants to get a hold of some of the classics that the "Essential" set skipped over. You get the good time party rocker "Down south jukin" .BR>There`s also the stalking thunderous crunch rock of "On the hunt" which i consider to be one of their best cookers from the mediocre "Nuthin fancy" lp. You also get the original version of "All i can do is write about it" from the other 2nd rate Skynyrd lp "Gimme back my bullets". The reflective and revealing "Am i losin" unleashes Ronnie Van Zants thoughts on his new life in the rock n` roll circus and how it`s affected him and the people around him. This collection also boasts the overplayed yet incredible "Gimme three steps" with that Rolling stones honky tonk stomp that is just too irresistable and the Ronnie Van Zant/Stevie Gaines vocal dual of "You got that right". "Comin`Home" concludes this enjoyable set on a very high note as it is one of Skynyrds deepest and best ballads ever. So if you have "The Essential Skynyrd" then all you need is "Double Trouble" to complete your Skynyrd fix as it features the other great songs from the 2nd rate albums along with the tried and true classics from their very best albums. How can you beat that??? Well... maybe a case of brew for a buck!!!!!! Ha Ha!!! Happy Listening. O.F. |
